THE WOODLANDS, TX— Jim Furyk is coming to The Woodlands, Texas.

With just one week to go until the return of the Insperity Invitational presented by UnitedHealthcare, Furyk becomes the 18th PGA TOUR major winner to book his tee time for the award-winning event set for April 26 – May 2, 2021,

Furyk brings additional firepower to an already stellar field committed to the 17th playing of the PGA TOUR Champions event in southern Texas that includes Ernie Els, Bernhard Langer, Darren Clarke, Retief Goosen, Mark O’Meara, Jose Maria Olazabal, Miguel Angel Jimenez, and Colin Montgomerie.

“This is a huge win for our tournament and golf fans in the area,” said Bryan Naugle, Executive Director, Insperity Invitational. “One of the things that makes PGA TOUR Champions exciting to watch is you have many of the greats of the game on the same Tour with rookies who are still competitive on the PGA TOUR. Jim Furyk is one of those guys. His name has legendary status in the game and I know he is going to put on a great show.”

Furyk is a 17-time winner on the PGA TOUR highlighted by his victory at the 2003 U.S. Open. The FedEx Champion and PGA TOUR Player of the Year in 2010, Furyk was the U.S. Ryder Cup captain for 2018. Outside of Phil Mickelson, no player has made more starts in Ryder Cup play for the United States team than Furyk who has teed it up nine times.

Furyk has only played a handful of events on the PGA TOUR Champions since turning 50 in May 2020. He joins Arnold Palmer, Bruce Fleisher and Phil Mickelson as the only four players ever to win their first two starts on the PGA TOUR Champions.

The 18 PGA TOUR major winners in the field will bring a total of 34 titles with them to the first tee at The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course. Other notables already announced include: John Daly; Lee Janzen; Tom Lehman; Corey Pavin; Jeff Sluman; David Toms; and Mike Weir.

The Tradition of Excellence returns to The Woodlands after the 2020 edition of the Insperity Invitational was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tournament week activities this year will include the Woodforest National Bank Championship Pro-Am (April 28-29), followed by the Insperity Invitational championship play which will take place April 30 – May 2.

The tournament will welcome spectators to take in the return of golf’s greatest names while continuing its tradition of offering FREE ADMISSION. Spectators will not be permitted access to the golf course during practice rounds and Pro-Am days, however, the tournament is welcoming golf fans to The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course Friday through Sunday for FREE admission to watch the 54-holes of competition play.
