The Spirit Charity Challenge is a new two-day event that will see a team of PGA Tour men’s professionals take on a team of LPGA women’s stars at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Texas, October 6-7.

All participating players are alumni of The Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship, the biennial event featuring the finest amateur players from across the globe. The Charity Challenge teams will be captained by 2019 Spirit Ambassadors Sam Saunders and Stacy Lewis and the full line-ups for this weekend’s event are as follows:

LPGA Players:

Stacy Lewis
Lexi Thompson
Austin Ernst
Lorena Ochoa
Gaby Lopez
Pernilla Lindberg
Ally McDonald
Paula Creamer
Bronte Law

PGA Tour Players:

Sam Saunders
Julian Etulain
Peter Uihlein
Scottie Scheffler
Roberto Diaz
Mackenzie Hughes
Ben Martin
C.T. Pan

The teams will compete for a $100,000 prize that will be donated to the winners’ charities of choice.

Says Sam Saunders, PGA Tour pro and grandson of Arnold Palmer:

“I am so excited to be coming back to Whispering Pines to play in the Spirit Charity Challenge. Playing in 2005 in The Spirit International was one of the highlights of my amateur career, playing against so many international players. To have the opportunity to support charity is very special and a huge honor.”

This year The Spirit International Amateur Golf Championship will follow the Charity Challenge and take place at Whispering Pines from November 7-9. This is an Olympic-style tournament for top-ranked amateurs (40 men and 40 women) from 20 countries, who compete for gold medals over 54 holes.

The Spirit International Amateur Championship was established in 2001 at Whispering Pines and since then Spirit alumni have progressed to win over 650 professional tournaments, including 22 majors.
