here was a time when luxury travel meant flying first class and staying in opulent hotels. And while that’s certainly still part of the equation, the concept of luxury travel has evolved significantly over the years. Today, the bespoke nature of a journey is what dictates luxury.
Since its founding in 2006, Kensington has had its finger on the pulse of what luxury travel means and encapsulates. The company’s recent rebranding—with a new tagline, See the World, Differently—underscores that understanding.
Kensington’s ethos is not focused solely on five-star resorts or Michelin-starred dining (although, these elements are often included in a Kensington-created journey). Instead, the company’s destination experts design each journey to reflect an individual client’s interests and individuality. Each experience is crafted with the belief that luxury is not a one-size-fits-all concept but rather an expression of what resonates most with the given traveler.
“Our North Star is always to enable travelers to see the world better,” says Matt Cammaert, Kensington’s senior vice president of marketing and outside sales. “By getting to know the client so intimately, we truly understand their interests and priorities, and that allows us to create the journey of a lifetime for them.”
As a part of the company’s rebranding, Kensington has restructured its myriad offerings, making it easy for prospective travelers to begin the creation (and customization) process for their impending journeys. The new offerings include Kensington Cruise, which provides a seamless experience from ship to shore, with fully customized pre- and post-cruise touring options; and Kensington Villas, designed for travelers seeking ultimate privacy combined with tailor-made itineraries.
Kensington has also created its new Golf, Ski & Sport Event Travel, which addresses the increased demand for sport-themed and adventure vacations with trips tailored to sports enthusiasts of all types—particularly golfers, who are certain to jump at the chance to enjoy some of these unique, curated experiences. Imagine, for example, an eight-day journey across much of Scotland, with rounds played at Carrick Golf Course, Carnoustie Golf Club, and the Old Course at St Andrews, interspersed with private castle and distillery tours.
You could also venture a couple hundred miles southwest, where rounds of golf at Royal Portrush, Royal County Down, and Portmarnock Golf Course fill out a portion of an eight-day journey throughout Ireland. And if you’re willing to travel even farther afield, Kensington can customize a two-week journey to New Zealand, complete with rounds played at Kauri Cliffs, Jack’s Point, and Cape Kidnappers, among others.
Every Kensington experience is designed to be profoundly meaningful, providing clients with moments crafted exclusively for them—whether it’s on a weekend jaunt or an extended adventure. When it comes to golf, the journeys are crafted by experts who are passionate golfers themselves, often having played the courses that form the foundation of the trip.
Of course, as with any epic journey, a Kensington golf trip goes far beyond just playing golf, incorporating memorable meals, outdoor pursuits, and other activities tailored to each client’s tastes. “As we continue to expand and elevate our luxury travel experiences,” Cammaert says, “we keep an unwavering commitment to place the customer at the center of everything we do.”
