There’s a particular trap that comes with being good at making cocktails. Eventually, everyone expects you to make the cocktails.
Under normal, everyday circumstances, that’s not such a bad thing. But making proper drinks for weekend parties, summer gatherings, or post-golf happy hours? That gets a bit more challenging.
Hosting already comes with enough responsibilities. There’s food to put out, music to choose, introductions to make, and a suspiciously fast-disappearing supply of ice to monitor. Add individual cocktail orders to the equation and suddenly you’re less “gracious host” and more “underpaid, overworked bartender.”
The irony, of course, is that you invited everyone over because you wanted to spend time with them. The mark of a good host isn’t doing everything yourself. It’s knowing which things you don’t need to do yourself.

There’s a reason the beer cooler is one of the great inventions of casual entertaining. Nobody has to ask permission. Nobody needs instructions. You grab what you want and get back to whatever conversation you were having. To say nothing of the on-the-go convenience for golf outings, picnics, etc.
Cocktails traditionally don’t work that way.
An Old Fashioned requires a bottle of whiskey, bitters, sugar or syrup, ice and ideally some citrus. An Espresso Martini introduces an entirely different set of bottles and ingredients. Margaritas need their own setup. Suddenly the “home bar” has become a small commercial kitchen. And impossible to take on the go.
The Cocktail Collection offers a considerably simpler alternative. Bartender-quality cocktails that are already mixed and ready to pour.
The lineup includes classics like the Old Fashioned, Manhattan, Spicy Margarita, Margarita, Cosmopolitan, Espresso Martini, Whisky Sour, and Lemon Drop Martini. More importantly, they’re made with spirits from brands you’d expect to find behind an actual bar, including Bulleit, Ketel One, Casamigos, and Crown Royal.
Put out the appropriate glasses, keep plenty of ice nearby and let people pour themselves a drink. You have now successfully delegated bartending duties without sacrificing quality pours.

The most interesting idea behind The Cocktail Collection isn’t simply that someone has made cocktails more convenient. It’s that convenience doesn’t have to come at the expense of what made you want the cocktail in the first place.
The drinks are expertly crafted with simple ingredients and designed to taste the way you’d expect the classics to taste from behind the bar. The Old Fashioned still needs to taste like an Old Fashioned. The Margarita needs to taste like a Margarita. Otherwise, saving yourself a couple minutes with a shaker isn’t much of a victory.
That’s the real sweet spot. Less effort, without making the drink itself feel like an afterthought.
Pour it over ice. Serve it up. Add the appropriate garnish if you’re feeling ambitious.

Another lesson we’ve learned from hosting?
Choice is good.
Infinite choice is exhausting.
Tell a room full of people you’ll make them “whatever they want” and congrats, you’ve accidentally opened a bar.
A better approach is to give guests a couple of good options. Maybe there’s an Old Fashioned for the whiskey crowd and a Spicy Margarita for the tequila drinkers. Maybe an Espresso Martini waiting for later in the evening. People still get to choose their own adventure. You just don’t need 17 bottles, six mixers, four kinds of citrus, and a laminated cocktail menu to make it happen.

We tend to confuse more effort with better hospitality.
Sometimes effort matters. Cook the thing that takes all afternoon. Make the playlist yourself. Use the glasses you’re normally afraid someone will break. Hosting people well should feel like you cared enough to try.
But the point isn’t to make the evening unnecessarily difficult. No one likes a stressed host.
A great party is ultimately about creating the conditions for people to enjoy themselves… And then actually enjoying yourself alongside them. If something can be made easier without making it worse, that’s not cutting corners. That’s good hosting.
The cocktails are covered. Go. Join your party.
