ome of the country’s top golf resorts can easily accommodate concise visits, allowing guests to not only get a suitable taste of the property’s flavor but leave after a couple of nights feeling confident that they hit all of the highlights and have a true sense of the place.

Destination Kohler is not one of those golf resorts.

For starters, the Wisconsin golf resort is home to four celebrated, full-length courses, two of which have hosted significant championships. A composite layout that blends together the River and Meadow Valleys courses at Blackwolf Run has hosted two U.S. Women’s Opens (in 1998 and 2012), for example; while the Straits course at Whistling Straits has played host to three PGA Championships (2004, 2010, 2015), the U.S. Senior Open in 2007, and the 43rd Ryder Cup in 2021.

In fact, in the estimation of Dirk Willis, Destination Kohler’s vice president of golf, landscape, and retail, those two distinctive golf destinations—Blackwolf Run and Whistling Straits—are pivotal pieces in the resort’s story. “Together,” Willis says, “they put Wisconsin on the map as a global golf destination.”

Set right along the shores of Lake Michigan, the resort is also a naturalist’s sanctuary, especially during stretches of agreeable weather from late spring through early fall. In particular, hikers, kayakers, and fly-fishers are drawn to the resort’s River Wildlife—a 500-acre parcel of land that offers access to 5 miles of the Sheboygan River and more than 18 miles of scenic woodland trails.

And then there’s the Kohler Waters Spa, a five-star facility that embraces the restorative powers of mineral-rich waters. There, guests can select from more than a half dozen hydrotherapy treatments, many of which utilize Kohler’s custom Vichy shower. This collection of treatments was inspired by the Latin phrase salus per aquam, which means “health through water.” Hot water is incorporated to soothe the body and to slow down the activity of internal organs, while cold water stimulates and invigorates the body. The spa’s hydrotherapy circuit, which is a complimentary amenity for spa-goers, achieves a similar outcome and includes a whirlpool soak, a brief dip in the cool plunge pool, and a longer stay in the steam room or sauna. When repeated a handful of times, the circuit can reduce muscle tension, relieve pain, rehabilitate injured muscles, relieve stress, and boost the immune system.

A number of other treatments are also available at the spa, such as a CBD Massage, which Ashley Kohler, the resort’s director of wellness, acknowledges to be one of the most popular restorative treatments for guests who ventured to the Wisconsin resort with their clubs in tow. “If they’ve been on the golf course all day and have tired muscles or are just feeling fatigued,” she says, “that’s a go-to experience for golfers.”

For all of these reasons, Destination Kohler is offering a new five-night getaway, the Experience Kohler Package, which includes a round of golf on each of the resort’s courses (including the property’s par-3 course, The Baths). It also offers daily access to River Wildlife, an 80-minute spa service, complimentary replay rounds on the Meadow Valleys, Irish, and The Baths (pending availability), and wellness add-ons for non-golfing travel companions, among other incentives and experiences.

In other words, no matter what draws you to the resort or what form of self-care you crave, Destination Kohler—and the property’s new Experience Kohler Package—is the ultimate way to fully experience the resort. “These days, people want even more self-care in their lives,” says Ashley, “and it’s only going to continue to grow.”
